Taubman College

Apply / UG Undergraduate Program

Applicants do not apply directly to the UG Architecture Program from high school. Students must first complete two years of college before beginning the UG Architecture Program. These first two years of undergraduate study (pre-arch) may be completed at the University of Michigan or at any other accredited university or community/junior college offering the required courses. Typically, undergraduates apply to transfer to the Architecture Program (from either UM or another school) during the winter term of sophomore year and, if accepted, begin the two-year UG Architecture Program junior year.

The UG program culminates in a Bachelor of Science (B.S.), nonprofessional degree. Many students choose to continue their graduate studies in architecture or a related field in design or construction. Others work for a year or two in preparation for future graduate study.

Current UM students are encouraged to discuss their academic plans with both their current academic advisor (through their home department) and the Architecture Admissions Office. Students applying to the UG program from other universities are encouraged to make an advising appointment with the architecture admissions office.
