| Description | """Central-City Planning and Community Development"" is designed to help students develop both theoretical and practical strength in understanding how to improve central cities. In addition to reviewing how central cities fit into the modern metropolitan context, we will focus on several approaches to improving central cities, such as comprehensive planning, growth management or containment, support for commercial areas, new urbanism as used in central cities, housing development, neighborhood rehabilitaion strategies, and enhanced transit. The course will also explore the special role of community development corporations and citizen participation in creating improved central cities." |
