PLY Architecture, with principals Professor and Director of the Master of Undergraduate Program Craig Borum and Associate Professor and Master of Science in Digital Technologies program coordinator Karl Daubmann, were the only U.S. firm to be recognized in the 2011 ar+d Awards for Emerging Architecture for "Shadow Pavilion," formerly located in the Ann Arbor Matthaei Botanical Gardens. "Shadow Pavilion" previously won awards including 2010 Architect Magazine R+D Award and 2011 AIA Small Projects Practitioners Design Awards. The project was originally funded by a Taubman College Research Through Making grant.
