Looking at all my projects designed by using computer software, I couldn’t tell if the project is pre-existed in my laptop. While I was adding thoughts into the software, it was depleting my thought step by step at the same time. The conversation between computer and I turned to be a loop of trapping and being trapped tangled together. I guess it is the distance between man and computer that generate the debate of rationality (digitized information) and irrationality (imposed human thoughts) in all the digital work.
Chinese culture and society are inevitably linked with piracy from the past two decades. Making fake is a whole different process from designing “real”. It usually starts with disassembling the original design concept, ends up with reassembling pieces of form and function. The situation here is somehow related to the relationship between human and computer. The process of making a real "fake" has the potential to legitimize the authority of creativity, innovation, and inspiration. As next generation of Chinese architect, it is my responsibility to do “real” design, not only to design the “real”.
