Lunch UP: Recent Expression from Indian Urbanization: Prospects and Concerns

Indian urbanization is frequently discussed by number of people living in urban areas and not so much about quality of urban space or quality of life. On one side, Indian cities struggle to extend basic amenities and infrastructure to its inhabitants, and on the other side policy makers are relying on transforming state of Indian cities with modern technology and borrowed ideologies like smart city. Although, functioning of Indian cities are found wanting, these new ideas presents immense opportunity for rebuilding Indian cities. But it also poses major concerns and conflict in cities. The presentation will highlight this recent trend and future of Indian urbanisation.
These sessions are a response to requests from faculty and students to learn more about what’s going on in the field in an informal environment. We hope this can inspire emergent thoughts and connections that will inform our scholarship.
