Discussion: NCARB ARE / AXP Updates
Many changes have occured this year in the path to becoming a Licensed Architect. The NCARB Licensing Advisors will clarify the entire process of licensure including the state of Michigan's licensing requirements as well as NCARB changes to the Architectural Registration Exam (ARE) and the Architectural Experience Program (AXP).

Ashley attended and graduated from Lawrence Technological University with her undergraduate degree in 2013 and her graduate degree in 2015. She moved back to the Grand Rapids Area while finishing her graduate degree and started as an Architectural De
signer for TowerPinkster in 2014. It was with connections through TowerPinkster that she became the Emerging Professionals Chair for the AIA Grand Rapids Chapter and started an ARE Study group. I have since moved up to become the Associate Director for AIA GR. Through communications for this position, AIA Michigan appointed her the second NCARB Licensing Advisor for the state of Michigan to service emerging architects on the west side of the state.
Ellen Moore, NCARB Licensing Advisor Michigan
Ellen attended and graduated from Lawrence Technological University with her Masters in Architecture; subsequently launching her architectural career in the Metro Detroit Area. Currently working as a Project Architect for NSA Architects, Engineers, Planners (est. 1960), a full service A/E firm based in Farmington Hills; it was there where she completed the experience and examination requirements to become a licensed architect in the State of Michigan. She is serving in her second year as the appointed NCARB Licensing Advisor for the State of Michigan.
