Lunch UP: Doug Kelbaugh, "Habitat III and the UN's New Urban Agenda"
Having attended this historic event in Quito this Fall, Professor Kelbaugh will report on the UN's most significant commitment ever to cities. Goal 11 - Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable - will be his focus, with an emphasis on the role of public space. His talk includes a new taxonomy of public spaces and some comparisons of Western and non-Western conceptions of the public realm.
These sessions are a response to requests from faculty and students to learn more about what’s going on in the field in an informal environment. We hope this can inspire emergent thoughts and connections that will inform our scholarship.
