In recent years, southeast Michigan has become a national leader in building greenways. The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, our client for this project, has served as funder, convener and facilitator of many area greenways..The project looks at what it would take to develop a regionally transformative asset: a single greenway along 150+ miles of Great Lakes shoreline from Port Huron in the north to Toledo in the south.
The students' work aims to spur interest in and excitement about potential future action. It explores existing trail connections and comparable greenways across the country. as well as the many challenges that must be met to plan a four-county greenway in more detail.
