Alumni Career Chat: “Architecture and Beyond: An Entertaining Career”
Rasa Bauza B.S. Arch’ 80
Executive Director Project Management, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
Rasa Bauza, a Detroiter born to Lithuanian immigrants, began studying architecture because she was inspired by the rich urban experiences and vibrant architecture of her native city but it's her "beyond architecture" skills that have advanced her career.
With an undergraduate architecture degree from the University of Michigan and graduate work at Yale, her early career included several years of architectural research in Switzerland followed by work in small practices in New Haven and Los Angeles. The early 90's recession prompted a focus on making herself relevant by developing critical new expertise, which led to a 25-year career as owner’s representative and manager for studio design and construction projects. Starting as a sole practitioner with relatively small assignments at Paramount Pictures her role evolved into an 8-year full-time design position at the studio with increasing responsibility. In 2001 she joined Warner Bros. as executive director managing design and construction of Burbank studio projects on the lot and continues to this day in strategic planning and developing workplace and production environments in various locations around the country.
