Julie Steiff teaches professional writing in the Master of Urban Planning program. Her goal is to help students develop flexible styles and strategies to communicate concisely with multiple audiences. She is particularly interested in the role of the student-centered writing conference in the revision process, the challenges of team writing, and the development of the meticulous editing skills necessary to present a polished and professional final product. Before joining Taubman College as a Lecturer in 2006, she taught writing at the undergraduate level and worked one-on-one with students from across the University of Michigan campus in the writing clinic of the English Composition Board (now Sweetland Writing Center). She also has extensive experience as a freelance editor of books, dissertations, theses and articles in urban planning, accounting, and many other fields. She holds a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan.
