Taubman College Taubman College Architecture Lecturer Jennifer Harmon was recently awarded a MacDowell Colony residency along with the first Graham Foundation Fellowship in architecture at The MacDowell Colony, which covers Harmon’s residency costs.
Harmon was awarded the residency and Graham-funded fellowship for her new project Fabrications of Place, which is a “derivative body of work” of her architectural thesis Retreat from Consciousness, which “explored boundaries between visceral and memorized space” and “sought to find the spatial and experiential territories between the conscious and the subconscious by tweaking the bounding line of the horizon.”
Harmon joins the ranks of artists, such as authors Willa Cather, Jeffrey Eugenides and Jonathan Franzen; composer Leonard Bernstein; Aaron Copland; and visual artists Faith Ringgold, Benny Andrews and Janet Fish. She will begin her 8-week-long fall 2010 residency on October 13 through December 8, 2010.
Harmon is Taubman College’s second resident at MacDowell. Golnar Adili received a Visual Artists MacDowell Colony residency in winter of 2006.
