Taubman College Assistant Professor Ghosn presents “Geographies of Energy” at University of Toronto
“Geographies of Energy” is a talk that Assistant Professor of Architecture Rania Ghosn gave at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto, on November 3, 2011. The talk aimed to examine the geographic as a research paradigm, to articulate it and bring it to bear effectively on the role of design. Through her research on her doctoral dissertation from Harvard GSD, Geographies of Energy, Ghosn proposes a spatial examination of energy systems, maps some of the physical, political, and representational geographies of oil, in particular, and critically reflects on the contemporary ethos of “;renewable” landscapes. “Geographies of Energy” is part of the lecture series, 2011-2012 Midday Talks, at University of Toronto which series seeks to present a wide array of research methodologies as they are deployed in emerging design practices.
