Wes McGee and MS student Ammar Kalo present at Fabricate 2014

Assistant Professor of Architecture Wes McGee is chairing a session titled ‘Forming Machines’ at the Fabricate 2014 conference in Zurich, Switzerland on February 15.

In addition, Master of Science student Ammar Kalo is presenting a paper titled “perForming: Exploring Incremental Sheet Metal Forming Methods for Generating Low-cost, Highly Customized Components”. The paper is co-authored with former Master of Science student Michael Jake Newsum, and Wes McGee.

The conference publication will also feature a paper titled “La Voûte de LeFevre: A Variable-Volume Compression-Only Vault” by Wes McGee and Brandon Clifford.

The conference is organised by the Professorship for Architecture and Digital Fabrication of ETH Zurich in collaboration with the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. FABRICATE 2014 is bringing together researchers and practitioners in design and making within architecture, construction, engineering, design, manufacturing, material and software design.

Reviewed by an international panel of experts, projects presented at the conference have been selected through a call for work. An international publication and exhibition will complement the conference. FABRICATE 2014 will disseminate selected work alongside a series of thematic essays by world leading architects and engineers.
