Two Architecture students part of International Institute Fellowship awards

Secil Binboga, a current Ph.D. student in architecture, and Ian Ting (B.S.’16) have joined 50 U-M students awarded a total of $150,000 through the University of Michigan International Institute Fellowship program.

All students will travel abroad between May 2015 and May 2016 to conduct research or intern in 39 countries. Binboga will travel to Turkey to research “The Cold War Transformation of the Eastern Mediterranean Towns in Turkey.” Ting, who is seeking a B.A. in Asian Studies, will travel to China and Taiwan to research “Modes of Spatial Representation in Chinese Architectural Drawing.”

The highly competitive, merit-based program is open to U-M undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students enrolled in a degree program. There is no preference for particular fields of study.The aim is to fund a diverse array of students and projects.
