On June 14-16, 2015, Taubman College will host the biennial Network on European Communications and Transport Activities Research (NECTAR) conference at the Ross School of Business. This year, the conference’s theme is ‘Smart Transportation-Smart Planning’, which will explore the latest in vehicular technological advancements, including modeling techniques and the not-so-distant future of self-driving cars. Within the framework of the eight subtopic sessions: Networks, Policy and Environment, Logistics and Freight, Accessibility, Security, Information and Communication Technologies, and Commuting, Migration and Labour Markets, the conference will foster an environment of international discourse between European and North American transportation researchers of information and communication within the industry. NECTAR chose to host the conference in Ann Arbor for its proximity to The Motor City, the home of North America’s most pivotal automobile innovations. Emil Lorch Collegiate Professor Jonathan Levine is the organizer for this year’s NECTAR Conference along with NECTAR chair Karst Geurs.
