Strickland Published in City Limits

Professor of Architecture Roy Strickland published an article entitled “Saving NYCHA Will Require More Change, Not Less” in City Limits, the public affairs journal. The article grows from his recent Taubman College urban design, urban planning and architecture studios and offers a strategy for the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to foster healthy neighborhoods through future development that empowers residents, offers new forms of community-capacity building, and provides revenue streams for the maintenance and renovation of New York’s public housing where more than 400,000 people live. Featuring examples of studio design work, the article illustrates the strategy’s potential outcomes.

City Limits is a nonprofit organization for investigative journalism. It aims to identify urban problems, examine their causes, explore solutions, and equip communities to take action.
