Taubman College Strickland Lectures at Universities in China
Over the summer, Roy Strickland, Professor of Architecture, gave lectures at three Chinese universities. At South China University of Technology, he presented “Urban Design: Interventions, Speculations, Advocacy,” which summarized his professional work, research, and teaching in the field of urban design. At Henan University of Urban Construction, he gave five lectures on cities as portrayed in narrative films, a subject derived from his Taubman College seminar “Architecture and Urbanism in Film.” At Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, he spoke about methodologies of teaching urban design based on his Taubman College urban design, urban planning, and architecture studios.
