Goodspeed to Moderate Panel on Art in Public Spaces for Pop-X Festival

Goodspeed to Moderate Panel on Art in Public Spaces for Pop-X Festival

Assistant Professor of Urban Planning, Rob Goodspeed will lead a panel discussion on public art on Monday, September 26, at 12 noon in the Ann Arbor District Library in downtown Ann Arbor. The panel will consist of: Jeff Hauptman, Oxford Companies CEO; Lucie Nisson, Artist and POP-X Founding Partner; Christopher Taylor, Mayor of the City of Ann Arbor; and David Zinn, Artist. They will explore the question: What are the impacts and possibilities of placing art in public spaces?

This discussion is the first of “Art for X,” a series of events that accompanies the urban festival POP-X 2016. POP-X is a community art initiative of the Ann Arbor Art Center, and it aims to infuse the area with distinctive, inspirational, and interactive arts experiences. This year’s festival on Liberty Plaza features 10 exhibition pavilions. Each interior exhibits a contemporary art installation, and the public space surrounding the pavilions is activated with programming that includes artistic demonstrations, musical performances, social gatherings, panel discussions, and participatory art making.

The panel discussion is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested, since space is limited. Register online: http://popxannarbor.com/calendar/art-for-x-public-spaces-discussion/
