Taubman College McEwen Presents Methexis and Promised Air at School of the Art Institute of Chicago
Assistant Professor of Architecture Mitch McEwen will be speaking at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on Thursday, October 6, 2016, where she will share work from Methexis, her solo exhibit at Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD), as well as Promised Air which is on view at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale. Methexis was a part of MOCAD’s Department of Education and Public Engagement Space Residency Project and focused on reimagining the use of the vacant houses in Detroit. The exhibit used models, design studies, maps and film, as tools to investigate and document this process of demolition and renovation in the city. Promised Air looks at U.S.-Canada border in Southeast Detroit and proposes an intervention to curb pollution in this large trade hub.
