Abrons Speaks About “Inside Things” at SCI-Arc

On September 28th, 2016, Assistant Professor of Architecture Ellie Abrons participated in a conversation with SCI-Arc’s Mira Henry about their exhibitions collaboratively sponsored by the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) and SCI-Arc. Abron’s exhibition “Inside Things” was on view at SCI-Arc in the spring and Mira Henry’s “The View Inside” is currently on view at UMMA until October 16th. “Inside Things” investigates the interiority of architecture. Through models and renderings it digs into the relationship between architectures made up of an amalgamation of exaggerated parts and how it’s expressed as a whole. Henry’s “The View Inside” translates the precision of documents like construction drawings into expressive conceptual drawings. In their conversation, billed as a Duel + Duet, Abrons and Henry discussed the overlaps and divergences of their projects.
