Students win Honorable Mention in NOMA Design Competition

The University of Michigan’s NOMAS Chapter (National Organization of Minority Architecture Students) participated in the 44th annual NOMA conference (National Organization of Minority Architects) in Los Angeles held on October 13-15, 2016. Following the conference theme of “Express Yourself,” this year’s competition called for designs for an African American Cultural Center and Museum in the historic Leimert Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The design team included Jamilla Afandi, Ashish Bhandari, Bob Cousseillant, Christopher Garcia, Mikehl Hafner, Bailey Haines-Surbrook, Mieko Preston, Juan Sebastian Rojas, Sara Timberlake, and Bing Wu.
