Taubman College McEwen’s House Opera Featured in Architizer Collaboration with UrbanNext
Architizer, in collaboration with urbanNext, a multi-platform aimed at developing and distributing architectural content, has highlighted assistant professor of architecture Mitch McEwen’s ongoing project, House Opera. McEwen shares more about this project in the Architizer feature and also talks about Detroit, its local initiatives, and her practice in an interview by urbanNext.
McEwen discusses how House Opera proposes alternative methods in which the city of Detroit can respond to blighted neighborhoods. Rather than demolition or renovation, House Opera engages with the social functions that benefit any neighborhood or community, and repurposes a foreclosed home into a community arts and performance space.
