Curry appointed new Dean of USC’s School of Architecture

The University of Southern California announced today that associate dean Milton Curry has been appointed the new Dean of USC’s School of Architecture.

As associate professor and associate​ ​dean for academic affairs and strategic initiatives, he has been an​ ​outstanding leader in areas ranging from the post-professional master’s​ ​programs to the ArcPrep high school program in Detroit to diversity, equity, and inclusion at​ ​Taubman College.

Dean Curry was recruited to Taubman College in 2010 from Cornell, and​ ​in addition to his teaching and scholarship, he has been responsible​ ​for a wide variety of important college initiatives in his role as​ ​associate dean. ​H​e developed and co-directed​ ​the Michigan/Mellon Project on Egalitarianism and the Metropolis – a​ ​$1.3 million research initiative funded by the A.W. Mellon Foundation​ ​focused on urbanization in Mexico City, Detroit and Rio de Janeiro​ that supports post-graduate fellowships, research colloquia and​ ​courses. He also directed the Michigan Architecture Prep (ArcPrep) architecture​ ​enrichment program for high school students in Detroit and served as​ ​director of the Master of Science degrees from 2011-2014 as well as the Master of Urban Design program from 2011-2015. Since 2015, Dean​ ​Curry has led the college’s efforts on issues related to diversity,​ ​equity and inclusion.

“The ​deanship at USC is a great opportunity for Milton and a key​ ​position of leadership for all of architectural education​,” said Interim Dean Robert Fishman. “​​W​e​ ​congratulate him and wish him every success on this major appointment.​” ​
