Deng’s Research Informs Health Policy Discussion

Thursday, June 7, 2018

Associate Professor of Urban and Regional Planning Lan Deng, who researches housing vouchers and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, was cited in a recent Health Affairs story. Her research on the price variations of both initiatives in different U.S. cities to determine cost-effectiveness was mentioned in a discussion of the various ways of providing units to low-income families and individuals.

Deng’s research suggests that while housing vouchers are generally less expensive, the cost difference between vouchers and the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program varies depending on geographical location.

The article, which also discussed the importance of affordable housing to community health, can be found at healthaffairs.org/do/10.1377/hpb20180313.398185/full.
