Norton, Pimentel Walker Present at National Conference about Climate Change

Professor Richard Norton and Assistant Professor Ana Paula Pimentel Walker are presenting this week at the 2019 International Academic Association on Planning, Law, and Property Rights (PLPR) conference, titled “Preparing for Climate Change in the Planned and Unplanned City.”

Norton, who is president of PLPR, is serving as master of ceremonies for the event. In addition, he is presenting on how U.S. coastal legal doctrines and planning principles can be used to critique the U.N.’s sustainable development goals.

Pimentel Walker is presenting a paper co-authored by Associate Professor María Arquero de Alarcón that addresses the relationship between city planners and courts in São Paulo, Brazil, on cases involving informal settlements in areas under environmental protection.
