The Chair show is celebrated as one of Cranbrook Academy of Art's most prestigious student shows featuring original chairs, designed and created by current M.F.A. and M.Arch candidates. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the opening and experience the show.
Cranbrook Academy of Art's long history of producing timeless designs include the works of the Saarinens, Ray and Charles Eames, and Florence Knoll. The Chair show is considered a legacy, dating back to the days of the Eames at Cranbrook. Today, Cranbrook is recognized as a leading graduate art school offering master's degree of fine art in painting, sculpture, fiber, metal-smithing, ceramics, two dimensional design, three dimensional design, photography, and print media as well as a master's degree in architecture.
A Call For Entries
To enter please submit a rendered sketch of in progress work or photo documentation of completed chair and concept statement to Brian Widmaier (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Monday, March 9th. If accepted you must pay a $25 processing fee, and your chair must be available from March 26th to April 2nd.
