Doctoral Studies in Architecture is hosting a open seminar discussion. Taubman College students are welcome and encouraged to attend this open discussion with Professor Kim. Professor Kim is a Berkeley (University of California) trained Design Theorist/Methodologist and a Licensed Architect with emphases on Logics of Design; Design Epistemology; Theories and Strategies of Integrative Design. He has been with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Professor of Architecture for the past 26 years, and prior to this, with Harvard University, Graduate School of Design (GSD), as an Associate Professor. His specific topics of inquiry include: Design Teleology; Design Reasoning; Design Knowledge; and the Nature of Integrative Design and Creative Processes. Recent research and public lecture/presentations at the international level include: Theory and Pedagogy of Design Integration; When Science Meets Design (The Problem of Incompatibility between Scientific and Design); Pedagogic Principles of Design Integration; Integrated Design of Tall Buildings.
