Sponsored by the Master of Urban and Regional Planning Program
The event will bring together different perspectives on the relationship between Detroit and UM and discuss what the university’s role in the city should be using a video link with the Detroit Center.
The discussion will explore the university’s current efforts in Detroit, whether they are sufficient and/or appropriate and potential future roles that the university community might play in the city.
Speakers in Ann Arbor: Angela Dillard, Associate Professor Residential College and Director of CAAS; Larry M. Gant, Professor of Social Work University of Michigan; Barry Checkoway, Professor of Social Work & Urban Planning University of Michigan.
Speakers in Detroit: Lisa Richter (B.A.'04), Outreach Coordinator, Earthworks Urban Farm; Sonia Plata, Director, Community Capacity Building; Ritchie Harrison, Project Manager and Physical Planning Director, Jefferson East Business Association.
