URP Professor Dewar discusses blotting in Detroit on NPR’s All Things Considered

Professor of Urban and Regional Planning Margaret Dewar was featured in "Blotting – Not Squatting – In Detroit Neighborhoods," a story aired on December 5, 2011, on National Public Radio. Common in Detroit, blots are vacant land between the size of a lot and a city block. Dewar references to blotting as "an everyday remaking" and "over time it becomes a dominant feature of the city." The residents of Detroit are beginning to take over these empty spaces to reshape their neighborhood.
