Lan Deng's teaching and research interests are in the areas of housing economics and policy, urban economics, real estate development and finance, and local public finance. Her current research includes: the economic efficiency and neighborhood outcome of various federal low-income housing programs, the supply dynamics of multifamily housing production, the relationships between macro-economic growth, regional investment, and neighborhood change. She currently teaches: real estate and urban development, housing systems, fiscal planning and management. Professor Deng holds a Ph.D. in city and regional planning (2004) from University of California, Berkeley, an M.S. (1999), and B.S. (1996) in geography from Beijing University.
