Most academic policies for doctoral students are established by Rackham Graduate School. These include policies on re-admission, registration, withdrawal, student records, grading, and course-related policies.

Orientation
Both Rackham College and Taubman College provide orientation for post-graduates and doctorals. The Doctoral Program conducts new student orientation just prior to the start of fall term. It is important that all entering students attend. Students will receive detailed orientation information by early August. In addition, students must participate in the Rackham Graduate School orientation. This is a half-day introduction for all graduate students on the Friday before classes begin.
