ARCH Freshman Seminar

READING ARCHITECTURE
In Reading Architecture students will examine an array of architectural ideas through the study of specific case studies as a means of understanding the relationship between architecture and culture at large. Since we want to understand architecture in all its facets, case studies will include buildings, texts and representation techniques. The intent is to explore multiple, and often contradictory, ways of thinking rooted in architecture. We will rely on contemporary as well as historical examples in the broader cultural context. This course is required for freshman Architecture students.
