ARCH 509 – AI and/in Design

Description

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are becoming part of our daily routine, how they will inform the landscape of design though is still in development. A development you can be part of.

In this course we will learn how this new but ubiquitous technology transforms the landscape of architecture, art, design and culture in general.

  1. We will try and detangle the generalist terminology through a series of talks, readings and screenings.
  2. We will learn about existing design tools that are already employing AI technologies, and
  3. We will build and train a neural network for a small design project where we will be working in teams of two.

Open to all students at UM. Interdisciplinary teams are welcome.
