Class Title Real Estate and Urban Development
Description This course examines the role of real estate in the formation of cities and regions drawing on research and concepts from urban and regional planning, political science, economics, geography, business, history, and other pertinent fields. The course looks at issues such as the historical emergence of real estate development, real estate growth "machines" and "regimes," real estate rent-seeking in the succession of land use, political economy theories of real estate abandonment and gentrification, the role of real estate in racial segregation, and the impact of globalization on real estate.
