|Class Title||Politics of Balance|
"Politics of Balance" invites students to look at how contemporary public spaces manifest larger cultural, socio-economic, ecological and political processes, and how their design and configuration impacts the nature and character of public experience. Bringing together different strands related to common space, minimalism and history of art, the seminar will challenge students to capture a moment of suspension that enable to better appreciate the differences that emerge on unfolding sequences of events, an excess of history, illusion and simulation and accidents in time and collective space.
The students will research spatial strategies to test architecture's capacity for hosting programs and anticipating scenarios able of channeling accumulated tension in the public realm. Each student will be required to choose a singular condition by focusing on the social, economic, political and cultural implications in the common space at different scales and temporalities.
