Favorite book and why: The Origins of the Urban Crisis, by Thomas Sugrue, jump-started my career change into planning. 

Favorite thing to do when not at TC: Hanging out at Belle Isle Park.

DEI Contribution/Highlight: For the past 17 Septembers, I’ve led a bus tour of Detroit as part of Orientation activities. Almost all of the Master of Urban and Regional Planning Capstone Studio courses I teach are designed to benefit low-income people of color.

Why is diversity, equity, and inclusion important to you? As a lifetime resident of a city whose population is 83% African American, I am reminded daily that our society still has a long way to go toward achieving social justice.
