DEI Contribution/Highlight: In 2006 I began an afterschool, voluntary architecture program for high school students in Detroit. This program has now grown into a year-long, credit-granting architectural experience entitled ArchPrep. In it’s various iterations it has touched the lives of easily over 200 students typically underrepresented in the field, some of which are current students and graduates of Taubman College.

Why is diversity, equity, and inclusion important to you? As one the few African Americans students, practitioners, and academics at almost every institution I’ve studied or worked, I know that representation matters. it’s critical for a well-rounded educational and professional experience that one engages and learns from, rather than fears and runs from, difference in all its forms.
