Why did you choose Taubman College?
When I visited the school as a senior in high school, I was enchanted by the energy, creativity, and mess on display in the architecture studios.
Describe the work that you do.
I am the founder of Studio Mayd, an architectural practice in DC. We work on cultural and residential projects… and everything in between. As the Assistant Director and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, I teach classes, manage the thesis program, and participate in the strategic planning of the program.
What are some of the projects that you have worked on recently?

- 7DrumCity, music practice and performance building
- Story District, community arts space
How did Taubman College prepare you for your career?
Taubman College taught me to be entrepreneurial and craft my own career objectives. I appreciated the professional examples and models demonstrated by the faculty. I also took advantage of two spring break internships, which were a fun way to get a glimpse into practice.
What is an important lesson that has stayed with you from your time at Taubman College?
One important lesson I learned was that it is very fruitful to do things your own way, despite what others around you are doing. Speaking up, sharing your ideas, and working in ways that are unique to you can have a tremendous impact.
What did you like best about attending Taubman College?
I learned so much from the faculty. From studio to seminars, I tried my best to absorb all they had to teach us.
