Alumni Lunch & Learn: Judy Quasney

Since 1992, Judy Quasney has been in the federal service at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the largest biomedical research institution in the world dedicated to public health. She participated on the team that developed the NIH biomedical laboratory design guidelines, now accepted as the standard for such building types by the AIA and the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers. In 2006 she became Director of the Office of Research Operations within the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

Quasney currently oversees 1.5 million sq./ft. of space resources occupied on 5 campuses across the country housing nearly 4,500 people dedicated to NIAID biomedical research programs. Judy holds two patents for acoustical mitigation within a plenum ceiling system for which she recently received the National Federal Laboratory Consortium Award for technology transfer. She is a member of the NIAID senior leadership team providing strategic consultation to NIAID executives in support of furthering the NIH and NIAID public health research mission.
