David Leatherbarrow, Doctoral Program Symposia

David Leatherbarrow is professor of architecture and chair of the graduate group in architecture at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design.

Leatherbarrow teaches courses in architectural theory and design studios in the graduate and undergraduate programs, supervises research, and directs the Ph.D. program. He taught theory and design at the Polytechnic of Central London and Cambridge University, England, and he is currently in private practice with Lauren Leatherbarrow.

David Leatherbarrow was the recipient of the Visiting Scholar Fellowship from the Canadian Center of Architecture (1997-98), and his published books include Topographical Stories, Surface Architecture, (with Mohsen Mostafavi); Uncommon Ground, Roots of Architectural Invention, On Weathering: The Life of Buildings in Time; and Masterpieces of Architectural Drawing. Leatherbarrow’s research focuses on history and theory of architecture and the city.
