Dimensions 25: Book Launch and Reflection

October 1, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Established in 1987, Dimensions is the annual, student-produced journal of architecture at the University of Michigan. Dimensions seeks to contribute to the critical discourse of architectural education by documenting the most compelling work produced by its students, faculty, fellows, and visiting lecturers. Dimensions solicits work each fall for inclusion in the upcoming volume, which is designed and produced during the academic year with the guidance of a faculty advisor.

Dimensions 25 includes Thesis Projects, Wallenberg Projects, Saarinen/Swanson Essay Competition winners, and work by Architecture Fellows Nahyun Hwang, Jesse LeCavalier, and Irene Hwang. It also includes interviews with Robert Somol, Preston Scott Cohen, Francis D.K. Ching, and Alexander D’Hooge.

The unveiling of Dimensions 25 will also include a brief panel discussion in the A+A Auditorium featuring current and former faculty advisors and department heads who had a supporting role in the growth and development of the journal including Bob Beckley, Tom Buresh, Brian Carter, John McMorrough, and Christian Unverzagt. The reflection will be followed by a reception on the first floor ‘Street’ with refreshments provided. All students, faculty, and staff are invited to pick up their complimentary copy and celebrate the release of Dimensions.

Students are strongly encouraged to get their copy at this event, however if you are unable to attend, stop by the Dean’s Office during the month of October with your student ID in order sign out your copy.
