Lunch UP: Urban Informatics: Transparency in the Indian Real Estate Market

A Look at the Bangalore

A group of masters students from the Urban Planning program and the School of Information teamed up to create a website designed to assist Indian homebuyers. Without a one-stop site with information about housing prices and property taxes, Bangalore residents cannot make informed decisions, leaving them vulnerable to  price gouging developers and landlords. The presentation looks at whether technology and increased transparency has an empowering effect for home buyers in the Indian real estate market.

Presenters: Drew Phillips and Frank Romo

These sessions are a response to requests from faculty and students to learn more about what’s going on in the field in an informal environment. We hope this can inspire emergent thoughts and connections that will inform our scholarship. If you have research you would like to present, or a provocative article you would like to discuss, please speak with Larissa Larsen, David Weinreich, or Carla Kayanan.
