Paws for a Break!

December 7, 2011 at 7:30 pm

Shake off end-of-semester heebie jeebies and enjoy the human-animal bond, one of the best-known stress reducers. Dogs and their handlers from Therapaws of Michigan will visit Taubman College in the A+A courtyard for some relaxation and fun. Sacha Feirstein, Student Life Counselor, is coordinating the event and will be on hand with other stress management ideas.

Did you know…?
…The presence of friendly animals has been shown to decrease the physical and psychological responses to stress as well as decrease loneliness and depression.
…Studies of undergraduates have shown that anxiety is reduced when students have an opportunity to interact with a dog.
…Studies of college students have confirmed that interacting with a dog often produces less anxiety than interacting with people!

Please Note:
The dogs coming to visit Taubman College are specially trained and registered therapy dogs from Therapaws of Michigan (http://www.therapaws.org). Please do not bring your own dogs to the event, thank you!
