Perimeter Projects Studio Lecture 2: George L. Legendre

About George Legendre: Born in paris, france. Stepson of writer pierre legendre. Lived in the united states (1992-1999) before settling in the UK. 

Studied architecture at EAPB, Paris, and Harvard University, USA, where he earned a master’s degree in 1994. Worked for Charles Gwathmey in New York in 1994-95. 

Full-time academic career begun in his mid-twenties in 1995, first as assistant professor of design and computation at Harvard University (1996-2001) and recently as visiting professor at Princeton University (2003-05) and diploma unit master the Architectural Association School of Architecture (as of 2002). 

George’s expertise combines architectural design, analytic mathematics and computation. A onetime applied researcher, he has written design software and filed for an (abortive) technology patent with Harvard University, where he was also head of visual structures at the Center of Design Informatics (1997). 

 A regularly published essayist, he is the author of “ijp The Book of Surfaces” (AA publications, London 2003) as well as “Bodyline: The End of Our Meta-Mechanical Body” (ditto, 2005), and a critical study of John Pickering’s sculptural art, mathematical form (ditto, 2006) .
