Playing an outsized role\, Michigan\, with its ready supply of lumber\, skilled laborers\, and easy access to water and rail transport\, was the center of the kit-house industry in the early to mid-20th century. Stop by to see a pop-up exhibit highlighting changing trends in suburban American housing through a selection of kit-house catalogs. The catalogs\, from Michigan-based companies like Aladdin (of Bay City) and Hom-o-Graf (of Detroit). represent just a portion of the house catalog collection in the AAEL Special Collections.
