Radical Planning Speaker Series – Wenona T. Singel

February 5 at 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Prof. Wenona Singel of Michigan State University College of Law will unpack the continuing legacy of the Supreme Court case of Johnson v. M’Intosh. The case is foundational to the entire system of property ownership in the United States as well as to Federal Indian Law. Prof. Singel will explain why the case represents one of the worst violations of human rights in US legal history, and she’ll examine the myriad ways in which the case – which is still good law – continues to cause harmful repercussions for Native Nations throughout the United States.
