December 19, 2011 at 4:30 pm

Sustainable Mobility & Accessibility Research & Transformation (SMART), a cross-university project of the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute & Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, will officially launch SMART’s most recent project on “Catalyzing the New Mobility in Cities,” Dec. 19, 2011.

The event features a brief talk on innovative approaches to sustainable transport for the urban poor by Benjamin De La Pena, Associate Director of Urban Development at the Rockefeller Foundation in New York. Also featured will be Michigan-based leaders from the Trans4m Coalition; the Transforming Transportation Research Corridor Consortium (TTRCC) of the UM-WSU-MSU University Research Corridor (URC); and Connect + Prosper.

Partners from the Mott Foundation, the Alcoa Foundation, and Ford Motor Company as well as the Rockefeller Foundation will join SMART leadership in setting the tone for successful urban transportation efforts locally and globally in 2012.

If you have a transportation-related project or study you would like to share, please send a 1-page summary of it before December 16 to Kim Seelye at kkseelye@umich.edu, or bring copies along to set out on the 19th.
