Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) 65th Annual Meeting

April 18, 2012 at 9:00 am

Taubman College faculty will speak at the 65th Annual Society of Architectural (SAH) Historians Conference, held in Detroit. Scheduled speakers include Emil Lorch Collegiate Professor Robert Fishman, Associate Professor Andrew Herscher, Assistant Professor Amy C. Kulper, Doctoral Candidate Michael McCulloch, Doctoral Student Faiza Moatasim, and Associate Professor Lydia M. Soo. The purpose of the annual conference is to present recent scholarship in the field of architectural history. Each of the 36 total speakers, including leading historians, preservationists, architects, and curators, will engage with a wide spectrum of topics and perspectives reflecting on the state of the field of architecture. Detroit was chosen as this year’s destination for the conference because of its magnificent buildings –from early 19th century remnants to stunning Mid-Century Moderns – but also because of the auto industry, which has produced wealth unparalleled by any other city of its time. The conference features a preservation seminar, workshops for historians, roundtable discussions, reunions, and evening lectures. The conference will take place from Wednesday, April 18 through Sunday, April 22. For more information: http://ww.sah.org/2012/. For more information, click here
