Taubman 10 Reception

September 24, 2009 at 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

This fall we celebrate the ten year anniversary of the naming of the college in honor of Mr. Taubman’s magnanimous gift. Everyone who works and learns at the college benefits directly or indirectly from Mr. Taubman’s generosity. Join with faculty, students and staff for a festive reception celebrating the generosity of A. Alfred Taubman and the 10th Anniversary of the naming of Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Beginning at 4:45 p.m.: grab a special T-shirt and hop one of the buses that will be looping between the front (column side) of the Art & Architecture Building and the UMMA

On arrival: take your position, lining sidewalk, for surprise welcome of A. Alfred Taubman (staff will organize this)

5:30-7:00 p.m.: introduce yourself and personally express appreciation to Mr. Taubman, enjoy the architecture and the collections of the museum while consuming good food and bevs from FoodArt.

6:30 p.m.: listen to brief remarks from Dean Monica Ponce de Leon, President Mary Sue Coleman, Mr. Taubman and Taubman Scholar Patrick Lynch

Between 6:50 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. take a shuttle back to the Art & Architecture Building.

Please help us celebrate by:

• Signing two commemorative posters. One will be signed with special black pens provided and one will be signed with special blue pens provided. The idea is to create something similar to posters that were created when the college was named. When these are both signed, one will remain here at the college and one will be presented to Mr. Taubman. Please sign these by noon on September 24, 2009.

• Writing a note about your experience at the college or creating a sketch to share with Mr. Taubman. These will be assembled in a specially fabricated box designed by Patrick Lynch, a current Taubman Scholar, and presented at the event. There are note cards designed for this purpose. Please make your submission by noon on September 24, 2009.
