Immigration: A Catalyst for Change in American Cities

Conference presenters will speak on how immigration is shaping local economies, urban form, and social dynamics. The topic reflects the university-wide theme of “I Am, Was, and Always Will Be a Catalyst for Change”.

Presenters at the symposium include:

Hussein Samatar, Executive Director of the African Development Center of Minnesota
Ismael Ahmed, Director of the Michigan Department of Human Services and co-founder and former director of ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services),
Francisco Lara-Valencia, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Southwest Borderland Scholar at Arizona State University

A reception will follow at 8:30 PM.
